Bahrain crashed out of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Men’s U19 Premier Cup after they lost their second Group A game to Nepal by seven wickets in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, yesterday. Batting first, Bahrain subsided to 77 all out off 37.5 overs with Muhammad Basil being the only batter to get into double-figures as he top-scored with a battling 34 off 77 balls.
Nepal needed only 11.5 overs to reach the 78-run target after slumping to 10 for three at one stage. Arjun Kamal and Dev Khanal both finished with identical scores of 32 not out in a match-winning, 68-run partnership. Bahrain’s second successive loss – they lost to Saudi Arabia by 67 runs in their opening game of the tournament – means that they are effectively out of the running for a place in the semifinals and will play their last game against Iran purely for pride tomorrow.
