Women’s 3,000 metres steeplechase world champion Winfred Yavi was honoured at a reception held at the Bahrain Athletics Association’s (BAA) headquarters yesterday.
Bahrain’s Yavi cliched her maiden world title at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last Sunday.
Present at the reception were Bahrain Olympic Committee secretary general Faris Al Kooheji, BAA president Mohammed bin Jalal and members of the association’s board of directors.
Yavi was greeted with spirited applause by the technical, administrative and media staff. She thanked everyone for honouring her, adding that it will motivate her to continue to give her best for the country in future events.
