AL MOHAMEDIYA Racing was the big winner during the 16th race of the season organised by the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) at the club’s racetrack in Al-Raffa, Sakhir, with three horses emerging victorious yesterday.
Horses from Al Afoo Racing won two events on the card, with the others being taken Onyx Racing, MJ Racing and Al Roudha.
Arctic Emperor, owned by Al Mohamediya and ridden by Nail Callan, raced to victory by 8-1/2 lengths over King of the Throne in the Lexus Cup - the last race of the day’s card - for imported horses with handicap over 2,400m. Tartan Chief finished third and Tall Order came in fourth.
In the seventh race for the Lexus Cup over 1,400m for imported horses with handicap, Dairerin, owned by Onyx Racing and ridden by Anas Al Siyabi, won by a length over Thahaby, with Nine Below Zero and Wiretap following in that order.
Royal Scimitar, owned by Al Mohamediya and ridden by Callan, won the sixth race over 1,600m for imported class 4 maiden horses, by a length over Malakye with Sea Dart and American Flag finishing third and fourth, respectively.
The fifth race over 1,600m for locally bred horses with handicap was won by Jabarah, owned by Al Afoo and ridden by Francesco Dettori. Wafiah took second place followed by Murjaniya and Lahoug in that order.
Wowzers, owned by Al Mohamediya and ridden by Ali Husain, won the fourth race over 1,200m straight for the Lexus Cup for imported horses with handicap. Pure Dreamer finished second with Graphite Storm and Kinks taking third and fourth places, respectively.
The third race for the Lexus Cup over 1,000m for locally bred maiden horses was won by Waqiaah, owned by Al Afoo and ridden by Detori. Lavender was 3-1/4 lengths behind in second, follwed by Miblish and Alhadba in that order.
Shu Taibah, owned by MJ Racing and ridden by Ebrahim Nader, won the second race over 1,200m for locally bred horses with handicap, by 1-1/4 length over Madaar with the Ghost Ship and Wahaaj taking third and fourth places, respectively.
Yesterday’s opening race for the Hasan Bin Saleh Al Rowai Cup over 1,200m for class 3, 4 and maiden horses WAHO, was won by Krushan 1793, followed by Musannan 1811, Musannan 1781 and Kuheilan Umm Zorayr 1838, in that order.
Meanwhile, the Arabian Horse Foundation for Equestrian and Veterinary Services presented an award for the horse with best appearance in the seventh race to Forbidden Land.
