HIS Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and captain of the Royal Endurance Team Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has added a new chapter to Bahrain’s accomplishments in the endurance sport after winning the Samorin International Endurance Championship’s 160km race, in Slovakia.
The victory confirms Shaikh Nasser’s readiness for the upcoming World Championship in Italy, while this win doubles Bahrain’s Eid Al Adha joy.
Shaikh Nasser clocked 7 hours, 55 minutes and 42 seconds to win the event. He was riding Bolt in the 5-stage race.
He congratulated his teammate Jaffar Mirza on winning second place. Royal Endurance team members Cecilia and Raed Mahmood were fourth and fifth respectively.
Meanwhile, their teammate Shaikh Isa bin Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa produced an outstanding performance to complete the race.
“His Majesty the King’s sponsorship and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s interest in the endurance sport were key in this success,” Shaikh Nasser said, dedicating his victory to the King.
“This triumph confirms we are ready for the upcoming World Championship. We have a clear view following a series of great results,” Shaikh Nasser added.
“We are looking forward to achieving more successes to cement the Bahraini endurance sport position at the European level. We have full confidence in our riders,” he pointed out.
Shaikh Nasser will also lead the team in the 120km race which will take place on Sunday. He will be joined by Salman Isa, Mohammed Al Hashemi and Manal Fakhrawi.
