India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has announced an extension to the suspension of scheduled international passenger flights until September 30.
"However, international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on a case-to-case basis," the DGCA added.
Although regular scheduled international passenger services have been suspended in India since March 23, 2020, special international flights have been operating under the Vande Bharat Mission since May 2020 under bilateral "air bubble" arrangements with around 25 countries since July 2020.
Some countries under the air bubble agreement are Bahrain, the US, the UK, UAE, Kenya, Bhutan and France.
The circular by the DGCA also said that the suspension does not affect the operation of international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by it.
