Al Hekma International School held its graduation ceremony at Arad Fort on Sunday (July 4) as the graduating students completed their American high school diploma requirements despite the challenges resulting from the pandemic.
The event gave the graduates and their parents a historic opportunity to celebrate this moment of success. The ceremony was held strictly following the social distancing protocol and taking all precautionary measures. The parents remained seated in their cars to witness the ceremony.
The ceremony began with the National Anthem, followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. After that, school president Dr Mona Rashid Al Zayani gave a speech, welcoming the attendees and congratulating the graduates and their families on this occasion. She also highlighted the most prominent achievements of the school, stressing the role of education in strengthening the personality of the students and their role in society.
She expressed her appreciation for the great efforts made by the school’s Board of Advisors and all the members of the administrative and educational bodies to make the school's education a success.
School principal Maya Harb stressed the importance of graduating the 2021 batch, noting that the pandemic did not prevent the school's celebration this year, and taught us all to continue our lives with joy and pleasure.
Every year, the school honours the distinguished students to highlight their academic, extracurricular achievements, and show outstanding participation & hold leadership positions while maintaining outstanding academic standards.
Dana Kurdi won the Outstanding Model Student award for this academic year, while Hana Ahmed won the school valedictorian award.
Al Hekma International School is concerned with the personal development of students & their talents at the same time planting values and building morals. This year’s graduates left their positive footprint where they distributed baskets during Ramadan and drilled a well in India.
The graduate student Rama Ayman was honoured for writing a story with a remarkable literary and narrative creation and a charming Arabic rhetorical style.
At the end of the ceremony, the graduates received their graduation certificates, joining more than 1,000 graduates from the school since its founding in 1985.
The guest of honour Dr Najat Abu Al Fateh, Director of Public Health, who won the “Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Award for Bahraini Doctor” and a parent of AHIS Alumni herself, expressed her pride in attending the graduation ceremony and congratulated the graduates pointing out that this graduation was the result of the students’ perseverance and diligence throughout the academic year and their eagerness to excel was not affected by the challenges, in addition to the keenness of the parents to standby their kids and urge them to focus on their educational achievements.
Each Year Al Hekma International School is proud to host a Bahraini figure who through their, personality, hard work and achievements have always contributed to the development of Bahrain and is a role model for the younger generation and for this year Dr Aisha Adel Hamad, 2009 AHIS alumni, expressed her great pride & joy for being part of the school and shared a motivational speech with the students inspired by her experiences in life and armed with education.
