MLS club Houston Dynamo formally apologised to their fans after Inter Miami didn't include forward Lionel Messi in its squad for the match against them. The club then offered its fans free tickets for the following match.
Fans of the Houston club were outraged after finding out that Messi was not going to attend his match against them, with many demanding refunds for their tickets, eventually pushing Dynamo to make a formal apology.
In a post on X/Twitter, Houston Dynamo wrote, "The report on the condition of the players did not include Leo Messi, but it has been communicated that he has not traveled to Houston. Unfortunately, we have no control over who is going to play on the opposing team." The post was followed by, "To show our appreciation, fans who attend tomorrow night's match can claim a complimentary ticket to a future Dynamo match this season."
Dynamo went on to lose the game 4-1 in front of a mostly sold-out stadium with more than 20,000 people in attendance.
