Al Raud team rider Ahmed Saleh Al Nuaimi dazzled in the King’s Endurance Festival Cup, winning the 120km race for youth and U-16 contenders.
Al Nuaimi clocked four hours, 19 minutes and 4 seconds, followed by Zaim’s Sultan Abdulaziz Al Rumaihi (4:46:49) and Al Fursan’s Hamad Helal Al Taheri (4:50:53).
His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef) honorary chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa followed up the race.
The stage is set for 160km race for the King’s Cup, which will be held today.
Shaikh Nasser said that he expects the race to be exciting and competitive, wishing all the contenders good luck.
Saudi rider Khlood Mukhtar, from the Kingdom Holding Company, will take part in the five-stage race, hoping to qualify for the word championship. She expressed her delight at taking part in the race, hailing Bahrain’s championships, high technical standard and talented riders, in addition to international participation.
Bahrain TV Sports channel will broadcast the race live at the Bahrain Endurance International Village.
Meanwhile, winners of yesterday’s 120km race will be honoured today on the sidelines of the King’s Cup, which represents the climax of the championship.
