CAIRO: Host nation Egypt became the first team from group G to secure their spot in the main round of the 27th IHF Men’s World Championship.
After beating Chile in their opening match, they went on to defeat North Macedonia and have the maximum of four points after two games.
A few hours after Egypt secured their spot in the main round, Sweden followed their example and defeated Chile, climbing to the first place in Group G thanks to a better goal difference.
Sweden and Egypt now have four points each before their encounter tomorrow. On the same day, North Macedonia and Chile, who have no points, will determine the third team advancing to the main round.

After struggling in the opening minutes of their second match against Republic of Korea, Belarus found their rhythm and almost every player contributed to the win and their main round spot.
The first match of the day saw an improved Korea team from their opening match. While Belarus coach Iouri Chevtsov relied on the same 16 players as in their opening match, Korea head coach Il Koo Kang changed three players, from which Juin Kim and Taeung Kim scored in the first half.
