Doha: Qatari Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti opened the Gulf Marine Center in Al Wakrah in the presence of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Chairman Abdulla Nasser Turki Al Subaey and a number of officials from the transport and communications sector.
Speaking during the occasion, Al Subaey extended his gratitude to the minister for patronizing the ceremonies and his constant support for CAA.

Al Subaey added that the center is one of a few across the world and the first in the Arab region, noting that CAA contacted the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and took a series of measures to accredit the center.
For his part, Al Sulaiti said the center is a significant addition to maritime navigation in Qatar, extending his thanks to those in charge of it.
He added that the center serves the Gulf region and the Indian Ocean, stressing that opening it and having it accredited by WMO and IMO is an official recognition of Qatar's regional status.
