A rare photo showing the late Bahrain ruler Shaikh Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa was released by King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research Archives (Darah Abdulaziz).
The picture showed the late Amir of Bahrain Shaikh Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa as he was delivering a speech at the opening of the first GCC Football Cup in Bahrain in 1970.
Saudi King’s Advisor and Mecca Province Governor Prince Khalid Al Faisal also featured in the 49-year-old photo.
Kuwait won the first cup in the first championship which included four teams and Bahrain finished second.
