SHOWJUMPING – BAHRAIN’S aspiring equestrians kicked off their campaign last night in the showjumping competition of the third Asian Youth Games.
Flying the kingdom’s flag in the event, which features a course with fences 110cm in height, were Ali Husain Radhi, Adam Binjamal, and Zaid Osama Alharam.
In the teams’ competition, the Bahrainis ranked 11th after yesterday’s action. They amassed 31 penalties with a total time of 272.69 seconds.
Five nations shared first place after the first round, including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, and the UAE – all of whom had zero penalties.
In the individual category, Radhi riding Luna PKZ was Bahrain’s best-ranked rider in 36th after the opening phase. He had six penalties with a time of 92.88s. Binjamal was tied-37th on Helmie. He had eight penalties and a time of 79.95s. Alharam followed in 39th on Guilder’s Empire of the Sun. He had a first round of 99.86s and 17 penalties.
The second round takes place today, with the medallists in the teams’ competition set to be determined. The individual final will then be held on Sunday.
