Saudi Arabia’s police denied on Friday the claims made by an Indian expatriate in a video circulating online, in which he expressed a desire to return to his home country.
In a now-viral video, the Indian expat alleged that he was being mistreated by his employer and had his passport seized from him. The man was heard asking people to share his video so he could reach the proper authorities and return home.
The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia responded to the viral video on X, stating: “The Embassy has been trying to locate the person. No further action can be taken as the video does not contain any details about the location/province in Saudi Arabia, or a contact number or employer details.”
Eastern Province Police said the man was summoned for questioning and that it was determined he had filmed and posted the video solely to increase views on his social media account.
Authorities confirmed that there was no dispute between the expatriate and his employer.
Legal measures have been taken against him in coordination with the relevant authorities.
