FUTSAL – BAHRAIN’S men’s futsal national team lost 1-3 against their counterparts from Iraq in a friendly match played in the kingdom.
Mohammed Abdulla was on target for the hosts, but they could not come away with the victory.
The tune-up was played at the Bahrain Football Association futsal hall in Riffa.
The two teams squared off as part of their preparations for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, which are scheduled to be played from September 20.
There are 31 nations competing in qualifying, divided into seven groups of four and one group of three. Each division is being held at a centralised location.
The eight group winners and the seven best-ranked runners-up will join hosts Indonesia at the 18th edition of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup, which will be held next year in Jakarta, from January 27 to February 7.
Bahrain are in qualification’s Group B, to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, along with the host Thais, South Korea, and Brunei Darussalam; while Iraq are in Group D, to be played in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, with the host Saudis, Chinese Taipei, and Pakistan.
