HANDBALL – AL Najma battled to a 25-19 win over Al Dair in the final to lift the Khalid Bin Hamad Handball League trophy last night.
Al Najma had to fend off a spirited Al Dair in the second session after the first half ended 10-10.
Bahrain Olympic Commitee vice president Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, General Sports Authority deputy chairman and Bahrain Combat Sports Council president Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Bahrain Handball Federation president Ali Ishaqi honoured the winners after the final.
Al Najma goalkeeper Mohamed Abdulhusain was named the Player of the Match.
Al Najma reached the final after defeating Al Ahli 2-0 in their best-of-three semi-final series while Al Dair saw off Barbar 2-1 in their last-four clash.
On Tuesday, Al Ahli claimed a 41-31 victory over Barbar to finish third in the league.
