AN Arab-Islamic ministerial committee has condemned Israel for blocking its plan to visit Ramallah.
The delegation was planning to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas yesterday.
The committee said it had postponed the visit due to Israel’s ‘obstruction of it’ by refusing to allow the delegation entry into the occupied West Bank’s airspace, which is controlled by Israel, according to a statement by the Jordanian foreign ministry.
It affirmed that Israel’s action “constituted a blatant violation of Israel’s obligations as the occupying power”.
The delegation also said Israel’s decision reflected the arrogance of the Israeli government and its disregard for international law.
The Jordanian ministry’s statement clarified that the delegation comprised members of the ministerial committee assigned by the joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit to follow up on the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip.
Media reports have mentioned that the foreign ministers of Türkiye and Qatar were also expected to participate in the visit.
An Israeli official said late Friday night that Israel “will not co-operate” with the visit of Arab foreign ministers to the occupied West Bank.
The announcement of the blocked visit came a day after Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant declared on Friday that Israel would build ‘the Israeli Jewish state’ in the West Bank.
