CRICKET – THE Bahrain Cricket Federation (BCF) hosted its annual gala event, bringing together top diplomats, business leaders, cricketing personalities, and enthusiasts in a celebration of Bahrain’s growing cricket legacy and ambitious future plans.
Indian Ambassador to Bahrain Vinod Jacob, an avid cricketer himself, graced the occasion as chief guest. He lauded the progress of Bahrain’s cricketing ecosystem and emphasised the growing collaboration between India and Bahrain in the field of sports.
Guest of Honour, Bahrain India Society chairman Abdurahman Juma, pledged support for a ‘Cricket Diplomacy’ initiative, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties through sporting exchanges between the two nations.
The event was further honoured by the presence of several distinguished dignitaries including Bangladesh Ambassador to Bahrain Md Rais Hasan Sarower, Capital Governorate director Yusuf Lori, and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry member Yousuf Salahuddin.
Prominent business leaders Saad Asghar Ali, Sufian Usman, ICICI Bank country head Raghavendra Shenoy, and SBI Bank country head Munna Prasad Thakur were also in attendance.
The highlight of the evening was the presence of Indian TV star and Bigg Boss fame Vivian Dsena.
Winners of the Khalid bin Hamad League, along with Bahrain’s men’s and women’s national teams, were felicitated for their outstanding performances and contributions to the sport.
BCF advisory board chairman Mohammad Mansoor, a key driving force behind cricket in Bahrain, extended his heartfelt thanks to Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for including cricket in Bahrain’s national sports vision.
He proudly announced Bahrain’s bold step toward becoming a GCC cricket powerhouse with plans for a state-of-the-art 20,000-seater international cricket stadium, aimed at placing Bahrain on the global cricket map.
A video presentation showcased the journey, achievements, and future roadmap of Bahrain cricket.
Another major announcement was Bahrain’s selection to host the ICC global level three coaching course from May 26 to 30, with Prachur Shukla nominated among only 16 global ICC educators – a milestone moment for the kingdom.
BCF president Sami Ali, BCF general secretary Kishore Kewalram, and BCF treasurer Meenaz Ahmed expressed their gratitude to Shaikh Khalid and thanked all contributors to the cricketing movement in Bahrain.
