The General Sports Authority (GSA), in co-operation with the HH Shaikh Nasser Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Centre (NAIRDC), the International Group of Artificial Intelligence (IGOAI), and with the participation of the ‘I’m Talented’ programme, is organising the third edition of the Bahrain International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Sports.
The event is to be held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) first deputy chairman, GSA chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The conference will take place online on April 24 and will feature international speakers specialising in AI in sports. The previous two editions saw the participation of more than 320 individuals representing over 21 countries.
Shaikh Khalid emphasised that the continued organisation of the conference reflects the growing importance of AI technologies and their positive impact on the sports sector. Shaikh Khalid noted that the world is heading towards major transformations in which AI plays a key role, adding that sports is now amongst the most prominent fields relying on this modern technology.
Shaikh Khalid also highlighted the GSA’s efforts to work with local entities interested in AI to open new opportunities for the sports community to keep pace with global developments. This aims to support administrative, technical, and organisational progress in the sports sector through the use of AI technologies.
Shaikh Khalid commended the fruitful co-operation over the past years with the NAIRDC and the IGOAI.
