VOLLEYBALL – Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS), one of the oldest and most prominent Indian expatriate organisations in the kingdom, is set to host a high-profile volleyball league this November.
This was announced yesterday in a statement issued by BKS president PV Radhakrishna Pillai and general secretary Varghese Karakkal.
Preparations are now underway for the league-style event, with efforts being made to introduce a franchise model.
The plan includes collaborating with top-tier volleyball teams from India and inviting local organisations in Bahrain to take part as team owners.
Championships
BKS, known for hosting major tournaments including international badminton championships, has attracted large crowds for volleyball events conducted in the past.
Organisers are optimistic that the mid-November schedule will benefit from favourable weather conditions, further boosting attendance and enthusiasm.
BKS games secretary Noushad Mohammed expressed confidence in the franchise model, stating that companies, social organisations, and regional or hometown expat associations would have the opportunity to field teams under their own banners – adding to the competitive spirit and community involvement.
