Forty-nine horses were sold for more than BD80,000 in the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club’s (REHC) annual public horse auction, held at the REHC premises in Sakhir.
Isa Bin Salman Education Charitable Trust chairman, Labour Fund (Tamkeen) chairman, and REHC High Committee chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa attended the event, which was held for the third consecutive year. It was organised by REHC in collaboration with Mazad and Tattersalls Ltd.
The auction featured 66 horses for sale, with 49 sold for a total of BD81,320. The highest-selling horse fetched BD8,200.
The event utilised advanced technology to enhance the sales process while ensuring efficiency and transparency.
The auction plays an important role in supporting stables and providing opportunities for horse owners to acquire new horses, enhancing the diversity of racing horses and encouraging new owners to enter the field.
REHC CEO Yusuf Buheji commended Shaikh Isa’s continuous support and attendance, which contributed to the event’s success. He highlighted that the auction is a key initiative of the REHC High Committee to advance the sport.
Mazad CEO Talal Al Araifi expressed pride in the auction’s achievements, noting the strong engagement from buyers. He commended Shaikh Isa’s efforts in advancing Bahrain’s status in international horseracing and reaffirmed Mazad’s commitment to supporting the sector’s development.
