WRESTLING – Bahrain's Hasan Al Balooshi won a bronze medal in the second UAE Wrestling Federation Cup, held at Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi.
The two-day competition is open to wrestlers of all nationalities aged 17 years old and younger. There are various weight classes in the two age-categories for freestyle wrestling – the under-15 and under-17.
Competing on the opening day of action, Hasan secured his place on the podium in the boys’ under-15 division 44kg class.
He shared his bronze with Kuwaiti Eisa Abdulaziz Youssef. Taking the gold in their category was Islam Iusupov of Russia, while Mohamed Nashat of the UAE was the silver-medallist.
Hasan’s bronze was the lone medal won by Bahrain so far in the competition. The kingdom has other grapplers competing in the other divisions.
