A father, his two sons, and daughter-in-law stood trial yesterday at a court in Kuwait after being charged with killing an Asian woman.
According to the Prosecution, the victim, who was in a relationship with one of the sons, was murdered after she got into a heated argument at the family's house.
The son allegedly assaulted the victim and strangled her with an agal (a traditional chord used to secure a keffiyeh) until she died.
The Prosecution also claims the father was present during this altercation but did not intervene.
The father and son then carried the woman's body to the roof and left it there for 10 days while they decided on their next move, according to the Prosecution.
The two then stuffed the body into a box and buried it in their backyard.
The second son and his wife were aware of what had happened but chose to keep quiet about the murder instead of reporting it to the authorities.
The family denied all charges against them at their first appearance at the Criminal Court.
Representatives of the victim's family and from her country's embassy were also present at the trial and called for the harshest possible punishment for the defendants.
