Euro NCAP’s (the European New Car Assessment Programme) prestigious ‘Best in Class Award for Small SUV and Pure Electric Vehicles’ was recently awarded to Zeekr X.
Asia Motors, a division of Y K Almoayyed & Sons (YKA), is the sole distributor of Zeekr vehicles in Bahrain.
“This recognition solidifies the Zeekr X’s position as the safest and most innovative vehicle tested by Euro NCAP in 2024,” stated an awarding official.
The ‘Best in Class’ award is determined by the weighted sum of the scores in each of the four areas of the Euro NCAP assessment. The Zeekr X excelled in all of these, achieving an impressive 91 per cent in Adult Occupant Protection, 90pc in Child Occupant Protection, 84pc in Vulnerable Road User Protection and 83pc in Safety Assist.
“As a compact luxury SUV built on state-of-the-art Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) for pure electrical vehicles (EVs), the Zeekr X remains committed to ultimate safety, achieving global five-star safety standards,” said an automotive spokesperson.
It ensures maximum safety protection thanks to its robust 720-degree all-around safety body structure. Notably, the threshold anti-collision beam features a three-layer ‘eight-tube’ energy absorption structure with airtight compartments, enabling the vehicle to withstand side impacts of up to 65 tons (636 kN).
In Euro NCAP tests, the Zeekr X’s Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system stood out for its quick reactions, detecting and responding to both vulnerable road users and other vehicles. Additionally, the safety assistance function detected and avoided potential dangers from all directions while mitigating violations, and its driving assistance function monitored speed in real-time.
Additionally, the Zeekr X demonstrated its capability to maintain safety in extreme situations, such as submersion in water. If the vehicle loses power while submerged, its doors remain operable for up to two minutes, and electric windows stay functional long enough to allow occupants to escape.
