VOLLEYBALL – Bahrain's Dar Kulaib claimed their first and only victory last night of the 43rd Arab Men’s Volleyball Clubs Championship, currently taking place in Doha, Qatar.
The Bahrainis outclassed Erbil from Iraq 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-21) to end their two-game losing skid in the regional competition.
The defending Isa Bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League champions had previously bowed to Egyptian powerhouses Al Ahly and to Police Union of hosts Qatar.
Dar Kulaib thus finished their tournament campaign with just one win from three games and do not advance further, having already been eliminated from title contention.
Dar Kulaib’s squad in Doha featured Argentinian head coach Alejandro Schneider. Their players included Hassan Nasser, Yousef Khaled, Mahmoud Abdulwahed, Amin Ebrahim, Ali Habib, Ali Hussain, Hussain Isa, Abbas Abdulla, Hassan Alaiwi, Hassan Warqaa, Hassan Abbas, Ayman Isa, Ali Khairalla, and Croatian opposite Tomislav Mitrasinovic.
