Muscat - HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, presided today over the opening ceremony of the “GCC Universities and Higher Education Institutions 10th Sports Tournament”, which kicked off at the Culture Centre of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).
The tournament, which runs until 24 January 2025 affirms GCC states’ keenness to consolidate ties among students of member states’ universities and higher education institutions, in addition to promoting sports and cultural cooperation.
The tournament covers competitions in various sports fields, including athletics, swimming, football, basketball (3x3), volleyball, badminton and table tennis.
The competitions are held in different grounds like the SQU Sports Complex, A’Seeb Sports Stadium and the playground of the Military Technological College.
