FOOTBALL – THE level of excitement continues to rise ahead of the ‘Unity Kickoff – Play for a Cause’ charity football match, taking place January 31 at the National Stadium in Riffa.
The game is set to feature a number of legends in the game in two teams, captained by former England and Chelsea skipper John Terry and Brazil and Real Madrid icon Roberto Carlos.
The exhibition is set to be held under the esteemed patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
It is being organised by Dallah Promotions, in collaboration with the Bahrain Football Association, the General Sports Authority, and the Royal Humanitarian Foundation. The event will unite football enthusiasts, content creators, and celebrities in a thrilling match.
Along with Terry and Carlos, the other top stars set to hit the field are Yaya Touré, Marco Materazzi, Patrick Kluivert, Dimitar Berbatov, Luis Nani, John Obi Mikel, Clarence Seedorf, Julio Cesar, Michael Owen, and Ali Al Habsi.
On the sidelines, former English Premier League manager Harry Redknapp and Bahrain national team head coach Dragan Talajic will be in charge of the squads.
All proceeds raised from the match will be donated to the RHF to support initiatives aimed at improving education, alleviating poverty, and providing aid to orphans and underprivileged communities in Palestine, war-torn regions, and beyond.
Gates at the National Stadium are scheduled to open at 5pm on match day. Kick-off is set for 7.30pm.
The event will also feature live entertainment, special halftime performances, and a VIP gala dinner on January 30, where guests will mingle with the football stars and influential figures.
