HORSERACING – Excitement builds as the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) hosts the second round of the 2024-25 Bahrain Turf Series tomorrow.
The event, held as part of the club’s 11th race of the season, features top horses, owners, and trainers from around the world.
The racing evening is supported by platinum sponsors Bapco Energies, Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), Beyon, National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), Cebarco, Howden, and Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo. Gold sponsors include Al Salam Bank, Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK), Texel Air, Gulf Air (official carrier), Lexus (official car) by Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo, and Bahrain Jewellery Centre – Grand Seiko (official watch).
The Bahrain Turf Series has elevated Bahrain’s profile in global equestrian sports, attracting high-ranked international horses, trainers, and jockeys.
It also enhances the development of local racing organised by the REHC.
The series features 12 rounds held across separate racing evenings, with two races per evening during the racing season.
The first round of the Series took place on December 20, during which Bahraini horse Swift Asset won the opening leg of the sprint divsion to claim the Al Manama Cup, and Irish horse Snellen clinched the Al Muharraq Cup.
The series rounds will continue until the final round in March.
The 11th race will feature eight rounds, including the third and fourth races of the Series.
The third race, for Al Dana Cup over 2,000 metres, includes 16 strong entries from local and international stables: Locander, Bond’s Boy, Merlin’s Beard, Majestic, Bleak, Gulmarg, Killybeg’s Warrior, Lion of War, Signalman, Snellen, Mr Alan, Elwasme, Box to Box, West Suffolk, Vegas Jack, and Soldier’s Empire.
The fourth round, for Al Riffa Cup (sponsored by BBK), is a 1,200-metre sprint for handicap (imported) horses, featuring 18 contenders: Get It, Deep Intrigue, Jubilee Walk, Salvuccio, Mehmento, Thunder Moor, Inveigle, Jehangeer, The Parent, Nomadic Empire, Rocket Rodney, Spangled Mac, Grand City Hall, Wallbank, Squealer, Desert Cop, Kiwano, and Roman Dragon.
The Bahrain Turf Series continues to solidify Bahrain’s position on the global horseracing map while enhancing the local equestrian season.
