MMA – PAKISTANI mixed martial arts (MMA) superstar Rizwan Ali backed up his words in the co-main event of BRAVE CF 92 in Bahrain held last Sunday, stopping Indian MMA veteran Srikant Sekhar in the first round to remain undefeated in his professional MMA career.
Ahead of their showdown at BRAVE CF 92, Ali and Sekhar exchanged heated words at the pre-fight Press conference, during which Ali boldly promised a first-round knockout. He delivered on his promise on fight night, dropping Sekhar after breaking from a grappling exchange to secure his second straight win over the Indian star.
Previously, at BRAVE CF 85 in Pakistan, Ali had earned a third-round knockout victory over Sekhar, setting the stage for their rematch in Bahrain. With this latest win, Ali improved his record to an impressive 9-0 and solidified his status as a rising star in the BRAVE CF lightweight division.
Meanwhile, Sekhar announced his retirement from the sport in his post-fight address.
A pioneer of Indian MMA, Sekhar enjoyed a 13-year career during which he represented the nation on the global stage. Leaving his gloves in the cage as a symbolic gesture, he thanked BRAVE Combat Federation for the opportunity.
“There are ups and downs in the game,” he said. “I have died by the sword, and I have lived by the sword.
“I’m 33 years old and I’ve been fighting for 13 years, but it does not feel the same anymore. I think it’s time for me to hang up the gloves, and I’m glad I’m doing it at BRAVE Combat Federation.”
BRAVE CF 92 marked the conclusion of a historic year for BRAVE Combat Federation, which saw the organisation expand its global reach and break multiple records. It was held as part of BRAVE International Combat Week.
