Riyadh - The National Center for Wildlife, in collaboration with the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, is scheduled to convene the first Regional Arab Youth Forum on Man and the Biosphere (MAB) 2024 in Jazan from December 17 to 19 with the participation of experts, decision-makers, and representatives from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the MAB Program in the Arab region.
The forum aims to enhance youth involvement in managing biosphere reserves across the Arab world, aligning with the objectives of the MAB Program and the Global Biodiversity Framework. It also supports UNESCO's youth empowerment initiatives rooted in the MAB Program and global youth networks, such as the Global Youth Biodiversity Network and climate action networks.
Key goals of the forum include building youth capacities, equipping them with leadership skills for governance and conservation of biosphere reserves, and fostering collaboration among young leaders and the broader MAB community. Participants will also gain practical learning experience through a field visit to the Farasan Islands Biosphere Reserve and engagement with climate action networks.
