Bahrain fell to a dominant UAE by eight wickets yesterday in their opening match of the Gulf Cricket T20I Championship at the ICC Academy Oval in Dubai.
The hosts produced an impressive all-round performance to defeat the Bahrainis on their home ground.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the kingdom’s representatives were restricted to a modest 113/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Ahmer Bin Nasir was the standout performer with the bat, top-scoring with a brilliant 58 off 42 balls, which included six fours and two sixes.
In response, UAE made light work of the chase, reaching 117/2 in just 16.5 overs.
