Science Co., a showerhead manufacturer, is set to debut a machine meant to wash humans at the Osaka Kansai Expo in April next year.
Dubbed "Mirai Ningen Sentakuki", which translates to 'The human washing machine of the future', this machine resembling a pod with a transparent canopy uses sensors and an AI system to measure your vitals and ensure a perfect temperature for a wash. The system also analyses if you're feeling calm or excited and projects custom visuals inside the transparent cover to help the person feel refreshed. The whole process, including drying, takes about 15 minutes.
A similar device was presented by Sanyo Electric (now known as Panasonic) at the 1970 Japan World Expo. It was an egg-shaped pod that was filled with hot water and used ultrasonic waves to massage the body while bathing, but the device never took off commercially.
Science Co. says the plan is to offer up to 1,000 expo visitors the chance to try the bathing experience each day and is taking reservations through their website.
