The Bahrain Football Association (BFA) said last night that its social media accounts and correspondence website were subjected to multiple hacking attempts, which led to the infiltration of some employees’ accounts and a disruption of services.
The social media accounts of national team players were also hacked, and many offensive and inappropriate comments were posted.
BFA information technology department head Majdi Aldoseri explained that all efforts were being undertaken to counter the hacking attempts. He called on all parties using the BFA’s electronic correspondence system to exercise caution, not to click on any suspicious links, and to change their passwords in order to avoid any further hacks.
Aldoseri stressed that the hacking campaign the BFA is being subjected to is part of cyber attacks that various institutions and individuals are exposed to, pointing out the importance of taking all precautions.
Aldoseri added that his department is applying strong security policies and implementing best practices, such as regularly updating programmes and systems in a way that enhances the association’s approach to maintaining a safe electronic space that protects all users.
He further stressed that such campaigns will not deter the BFA from performing its role as an organising body for football in the kingdom.
