Bahrain's national table tennis team are set to compete in the 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships, which gets underway today in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The kingdom’s squad features four men’s players, including Mohamed Saleh, Rashed Sanad, Husain Murtadha, and Mohammed Nader Alaali.
The Bahraini delegation that has travelled to the Kazakh capital is headed by Bahrain Table Tennis Association secretary general Jaafar Hadi.
The continental tournament will see play in singles, doubles, and teams for both men and women. There will also be a mixed doubles category.
All four of Bahrain’s paddlers will be participating in the singles competition, while in the doubles, Saleh and Sanad will team up and Murtadha and Alaali will be a pair.
The quartet will then also take to the tables in the teams clashes, which kicks off the action in the championship today. The Bahrainis are in group three for this event and will play Kyrgyzstan and Hong Kong in their two fixtures.
