HORSERACING – BRADSELL narrowly missed out on a victory yesterday in a leading international horserace in France, competing for Bahrain’s Victorious Racing, owned by His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Running as one of the favourites amongst a 16-runner field in the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp Longines Group One event, renowned jockey Hollie Doyle rode four-year-old Bradsell to second place after five furlongs at Longchamp Racecourse in Paris.
The Archie Watson-trained contender was prominent at the start and had the lead one-and-a-half furlongs out. After being slightly hampered towards the finish, Bradsell was able to claim the runner-up classification behind winning horse Makarova, racing for owners Brightwalton Bloodstock Ltd, trainer Ed Walker, and jockey Tom Marquand.
Finishing in third place was Believing, representing Highclere T’Bred Racing, George Boughey, and Billy Loughnane.
