FOOTBALL – AROUND 150 players representing 16 teams will be taking part in the 29th Annual Six-a-Side Football Tournament, organised by the Rotary Club of Manama.
The friendly competition, entitled ‘Kick for a Cause’, is to be held tomorrow at Bahrain Rugby Football Club in Saar, and it aims to support key charitable initiatives in the kingdom.
“The event is a team building sports day and funds raised will be used to support the underprivileged and needy children and families in Bahrain,” Rotary Club of Manama president Prof Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Khalifa told the GDN.
“’Kick for a Cause’ has been our main fundraiser for over 35 years. We invite everyone to join us and to be a part of this very special occasion.
“It will be a fun day out for the whole family, while getting a chance to relax and watch some exciting football. There will also be food and music, making for a wonderful atmosphere, and those attending will also have a chance to go home with some great raffle prizes which we have lined up.
“We hope to see everyone there!”
‘Kick for a Cause’ is scheduled to take place from 2.30pm to 9pm. The event has been held every year since 1976, except from 2019 to 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Last year’s edition also featured 16 teams and was won by the British University of Bahrain (BUB 1) after defeating their second team BUB 2, 2-1, in an exciting final.
