HORSERACING – SERVING With Style raced to a fine victory in an international horserace in the UK yesterday for Victorious Racing, owned by His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Ridden by jockey Clifford Lee, Serving With Style triumphed in the Juddmonte EBF Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes, held at Goodwood Racecourse.
The K R Burke-trained steed started the eight-furlong ride in second position, and switched left near the rail over two furlongs out. Lee then spurred the two-year-old to the lead over one furlong out and did well to maintain their position until the end.
Serving With Style won by a neck against runner-up Manila Thriller, competing for owners Richard Kent and partners, trainer Jack Channon, and jockey Edward Greatrex. Coming third was Tap Dancer, racing for Whitsbury Viii, Marcus Tregoning, and Joey Haynes.
There were seven runners in the field.
Also at Goodwood yesterday, Victorious’ Duty First took second place in the William Hill Prestige Fillies’ Stakes Group Three race, held over seven furlongs.
Ridden by Hollie Doyle and trained by Archie Watson, Duty First challenged hard but finished one-and-three-quarter lengths behind winner Anshoda, competing for Team Valor LLC and Gary Barver, David Loughnane, and Billy Loughnane. Merrily claimed third amongst the seven-runner field for owners Derrick Smith, Mrs John Magnier and Michael Tabor, trainer A P O’Brien, and jockey Declan McDonogh.
Doyle was fresh off a victory in the Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes Group One event at York Racecourse on Friday, with Victorious-owned and Watson-trained contender Bradesell.
