HORSERACING – SOLDIER’S Heart claimed an impressive win yesterday in an international turf horserace in the UK competing for Bahrain’s Victorious Racing, owned by His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Bahrain Royal Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Soldier’s Heart took first place in the William Hill Ripon Hornblower EBF Novice Stakes, held at Ripon Racecourse.
The Simon and Ed Crisford-trained horse was ridden by Harry Davies. They enjoyed a convincing triumph in the six-furlong event. They led early on and were best halfway through the distance. They continued to push and were clear of the field over one furlong out.
Victorious Racing’s two-year-old steed was unchallenged at the finish, taking the win with a comfortable three-and-three-quarter lengths ahead of runner-up Line Of Force, competing for owner Zhang Yuesheng, trainer K R Burke, and jockey Shane Gray. Morte Point came third for Muir Racing Partnership, William Muir and Chris Grassick and Jack Giligan.
Also yesterday, Ramazan, owned by KHK Racing, finished second in the William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap, which also took place at Ripon.
Jockey Oisin McSweeney steered the Richard Fahey-trained four-year-old to a strong runner-up placing for KHK Racing, owned by Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Ramazan finished just three-quarters-of-a-length behind winner Dare To Hope, who took the six-furlong race for Lets Go Racing, Fahey, and Oisin Orr; while claiming third place was Secret Guest, competing for The Unscrupulous Judges, Bryan Smart, and Andrew Breslin.
Also yesterday, at Newbury Racecourse, Victorious Racing’s Into Combat took eighth place in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes race, held over seven furlongs.
Into Combat was competing for trainer Ralph Becket with jockey Rossa Ryan in the saddle.
