HORSERACING – Three horses with Bahrain connections had impressive results yesterday in international events in Europe.
Almanjoor finished as runner-up for Al Mohamediya Racing at Doncaster Racecourse in the UK, while Phantom Flight and Force and Valour each took third place for Victorious Racing, owned by His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
In Doncaster, Almanjoor was racing in the Unison Supporting Your Community Nursery Handicap race, held over six furlongs.
The Richard Fahey-trained steed was ridden by Connor Murtagh, and they narrowly finished behind winner Monomyth, who took first place by a mere half-length competing for owner Arjun Waney, trainer Ollie Sangster, and jockey Cieren Fallon.
Meanwhile, at Goodwood Racecourse, also in the UK, Phantom Flight was third in the Coral Glorious Stakes, which took place across 12 furlongs.
The Victorious Racing horse, trained by George Scott, was ridden by jockey Callum Shepherd in the race.
Al Aasy was the victor for Shadwell Estate Company Ltd, William Haggas, and Jim Crowley; while Relentless Voyager was second for Relentless Dreamers Racing and Partner, Andrew Balding, and Oisin Murphy.
At Royal Windsor Racecourse in the UK, Force and Valour claimed third in the British EBF Novice Stakes, held over six furlongs.
The George Scott-trained contender was ridden by Darragh Keenan. Queen All Star, competing for Jaber Abdullah, Jack Channon and Kevin Stott took first place, while Marrakesh Express was the runner-up for Guy O Callaghan, Eve Johnson and Rhys Clutterbuck.
