HORSERACING – VICTORIOUS Racing, owned by His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, were back in the winner’s circle yesterday in a top horserace in Europe.
Victorious-owned Calif, trained by Carlos and Yann Lerner, won the Grosser Dallmayr-Preis Bayerisches Zuchtrennen Group One race in Munich.
The five-year-old claimed the 10-furlong event with jockey Adrie de Vries in the saddle.
Calif put in a strong stride over the opening stages of the race and was always in contention for the lead. De Vries then applied a decisive finishing kick and drew clear from the rest of the pack over the final furlong.
The Victorious Racing steed crossed the finish line with a full length’s gap from runner-up Fantastic Moon, competing for owners Liberty Racing 2021, trainer Frau Steinberg, and jockey Rene Piechulek.
Westminster Moon was third for Westminster Race Horses GMBH, Andreas Wohler, and Eduardo Pedroza.
A total of nine runners competed in the event, which was for horses three years old and above.
