Tokenomics won the second race in the Dublin To Bahrain Series 2024, held at Leopardstown Racecourse in Dublin, Ireland.
Jockey Luke McAteer steered the three-year-old, owned by MRC International and trained by David Marnane, to first place in the zero-to-100 handicap event.
The prestigious Dublin To Bahrain Series features a seven-race calendar for 2024. Four of these are handicap races, with the winners of each being automatically eligible to compete in the Bahrain Turf Series as part of the highly anticipated 2024-25 season at Bahrain Turf Club.
Tokenomics was held up in last place at the start of the nine-furlong run, which featured five runners. By the final furlong McAteer had taken his steed up to the front but with a narrow lead. They kept on well all the way to the finish, doing just enough to claim the win by a head.
Shamsuddin was the runner-up for HH Aga Khan, JP Murtagh and Ben Coen, while September Leaves finished third for Moyglare Stud Farm, Mrs John and Shane Foley.
With the result, Tokenomics has joined Longbourn as the winners from the opening two handicap races on this year’s Dublin To Bahrain Series.
The other two handicap events are scheduled for August 22 (handicap zero to 90 for fillies), and The Bahrain Turf Club October Premier Handicap on October 20.
The series’ other races are The Bahrain Turf Club Desmond Stakes (Group Three) on August 8, The Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes (Group One) on September 14, and The Bahrain Turf Club Knockaire Stakes (Listed) on October 20. All events are being held at Leopardstown.
