HORSERACING – APARAJEO, owned by Bahrain’s Al Mohamediya Racing, claimed an impressive victory yesterday in the Trust Trailfinders With All Your Travels, EBF Novice Stakes horserace, held at Royal Windsor Racecourse in England.
Competing against a high-quality field, jockey Rossa Ryan steered the Clive Cox-trained two-year-old to first place in the six-furlong, class-five event, which featured 12 contenders.
Aparajeo led after the first two furlongs and maintained a stunning stride throughout. Ryan managed to hold on to their advantage until the end, fending off their chief rivals and securing the victory by just a half-length from runner-up Bold Impact, owned by Clipper Logistics, trained by Ralph Beckett, and ridden by Daniel Tudhope.
Hoodie Hoo, owned by Ged Mason and Sir Alex Ferguson and trained by Charles Hills, finished third, with jockey William Buick in the saddle.
Meanwhile, Peninsula Power, owned by Bahrain’s Hasan Mefareh Alajmi, took a solid fourth place in the Hospitality At Scottish Sun Ladies Night Novice Stakes, held at Ayr Racecourse in Scotland.
Oisin Orr rode the Richard Fahey-trained two-year-old to their final classification as they were just outpaced at the end of six furlongs.
King’s Call, ridden by Tom Eaves, was the winner for owner Bronte Collection 1 and trainer Kevin Ryan, while We Dare To Dream, owned by Baker Longden Lambert and trained by David O’Meara, came second with jockey David Nolan in the saddle. Fred On Fire, competing for owners Boucher, Crane, Owen, Ramsden, Wholey, was third for trainer Hugo Palmer and jockey Jason Hart.
In another event yesterday, Arabian Rose, owned by Horse Welfare Authority chairman Shaikh Duaij bin Salman Al Khalifa, finished fifth in the Free Digital Racecard at raceday-ready.com Maiden Fillies’ Stakes, held at Wolverhampton Racecourse in England.
The three-year-old was ridden by Harry Davies and trained by Simon and Ed Crisford in the seven-furlong race.
Dubai Treasure and jockey Joe Fanning were triumphant for owners Godolphin and trainer Saeed bin Suroor. Arabic Song, also competing for Godolphin and bin Suroor, were runners-up with Sean Kirrane in the saddle, while Santa Croce took third for Cheveley Park Stud, Sir Michael Stoute, and Saffie Osborne.
Finishing just ahead of Arabian Rose in fourth was Samra Star, racing for owner Jaber Abdullah and trainer Richard Hughes, while ridden yesterday by Finley Marsh.
