The Bahrain International Endurance Village will host the Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Endurance Race Championship under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The championship will feature a series of international and local races, as well as qualification races and a race for young riders, taking place today and tomorrow.
Today, the Endurance Village will witness international qualification races covering distances of 120km and 100km, a local race of 100km, local qualification races of 40km and 80km, and a local race for young riders covering a distance of 60km.
Veterinary examinations were conducted yesterday for the participating horses, under the supervision of the judging and veterinary committees.
A number of riders, stables, and various committees were present for the veterinary examinations, especially as they were conducted for the races taking place today.
The Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef) is organising the race for young riders as an extension of the successes witnessed in previous races, supporting the younger category of riders who will be the nucleus of Bahrain’s future endurance squads. Breef is following the vision set by the board of directors to qualify and refine talents and support them through the organisation of these races.
It is expected that it will witness widespread participation, building on the excellent participation seen in previous races.
