ENJOY a series of activities lined up this week at Shaikh Ebrahim Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research in Muharraq.
An exhibition titled Ashab Al Lal will showcase models and sketches of artist Ahmed Mater’s site art installation, proposed for the Wadi Al Fann in Al Ula (a vast area in Saudi Arabia that includes valleys, sandstone mountains and ancient heritage sites).
Ashab Al Lal takes its name from a Nabati poem on Arabian desert, where the mirage becomes a guide and a reason to continue onwards in the expanse of the desert.
The exhibition will take place tomorrow.
Muhammad Jaber Al Ansari’s book
On Saturday, a documentary titled The Builders of the Alhambra, by Spanish film director Isabel Fernandez, will be screened at the centre.
It’s based on an impending demise of a besieged kingdom, in which Sultan Yusuf I of Granada undertakes the construction of the Alhambra palaces to preserve the splendour of their civilisation. The film will start at 7pm.
Two books will be launched by Dr Muhammed Jaber Al Ansari on Wednesday. The first is titled Glimpses of the Arabian Gulf: Studies in the Gulf, its culture, its men and its folklore while the second is Shaikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa: His Poems and Letters.
The launch will be held from 7pm to 8pm.
