A SAUDI orthopaedic team at King Khalid Hospital and Prince Sultan Centre for Health Care in Al Kharj has successfully saved a patient’s severely injured hand from amputation.
The 30-year-old suffered a serious work injury after falling down three metres onto iron bars.
The Saudi health ministry said the patient was admitted to the hospital’s emergency department on September 18.
He was suffering from a laceration of the right forearm and hand extremities, and extensor tendons injuries.
After conducting the necessary medical examinations, he was transferred directly to the operating room for surgery during which the blood vessels and nerves were explored, and the severed tendons and muscles repaired.
The operation took more than two hours and was crowned with success, said the ministry.
