CRICKET fans in the kingdom will be in for a real treat later this month as they will get to see the 2023 International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup trophy up close when it arrives in Bahrain as part of its global tour ahead of the competition which starts in India on October 5.
The Bahrain Cricket Federation (BCF) has made special arrangements for the unveiling of the coveted trophy which will be on display on August 12-13 at an as yet undisclosed venue with additional events also on the anvil, BCF advisory board chairman Mohammed Mansoor said.

“We have completed all our arrangements for the trophy’s display for passionate cricket fans in Bahrain,” Mansoor told the GDN.
“I visited ICC headquarters in Dubai yesterday to meet CEO Geoff Allardice and brief him about the arrangements we have made for the trophy tour,” he added.
“Mr Allardice was extremely happy to learn about how well the trophy unveiling event has been planned. I also informed him about some other events we have arranged which will enable cricket fans to get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the ICC ODI World Cup trophy in person.”
This will be the first time ever that the cricket World Cup trophy will be displayed in the kingdom, which counts thousands of citizens of major Test-playing nations such as Australia, England, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, the
West Indies, Bangladesh and South Africa amongst its expatriate population.
Further details about the venue and timing of the trophy display event and other related activities will be announced in a BCF Press conference scheduled for Thursday.
