Cloud Drift, of Gunners Racing, clinched the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Cup in the ninth round at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in Raffa, Sakhir.
Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club High Committee chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Supreme Council for Environment vice president and deputy chairman of the club’s High Committee Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid bin Isa Al Khalifa attended the sixth race of the 2021-2022 season.
Shaikh Isa was presented with the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Cup by GPIC Plant Operations manager Khalid Yousif Al Binali.
Trained by A M Smith and ridden by Charles Bishop, Cloud Drift took home a prize money of BD4,000 in the 2000m race for imported horses of all classes aged 3 years and above.
Hard Taskmaster, of Al Hoora Racing, and Port Douglas, owned by Al Hassanain Racing, came second and third.
Ibn Arabi, owned by Al Afoo Racing, won the eighth race for the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Cup for imported horses aged 3 years and above. Trained by Mohammed Saeed and ridden by Lee Newman, Ibn Arabi claimed a prize of BD3,000 in the 1200m race. Arriba Arriba, owned by Hasan Mefareh Alajmi, came second and Never Before, of Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa third.
