Showjumping – THE Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef) organised the 2024 Nasser bin Hamad Showjumping Championship, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman, and Breef honorary president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, at the Military Sports Federation arena yesterday.
Mayoof Abdulaziz Al Rumaihi took first place with the horse Calvados des Vergers Z in a time of 68.89 seconds with four faults, and also took second place on Al Zubarah in 73.78s with five faults.
Sultan Abdulaziz Al Rumaihi was third on Teos in 71.09s with eight faults, while Haitham Al Bastaki came fourth on Al Batroun in 66.72s with 11 faults.
In fifth place was Ahmed Mansour Makki on Consuela Van First in 66.22s and 12 faults, while Hamad Majeed Fakhrawi took sixth place on Kamakazi Van Heet in 81.00s and 19 faults.
Shaikh Nasser’s children Shaikha Shaima bint Nasser, Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser, Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser and Shaikh Hamdan bin Nasser presented trophies to the winners.
Supreme Council for Environment vice president, Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) deputy chairman and SCYS member Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, and Breef president Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa were present.
Shaikh Nasser congratulated the winners, commending the outstanding performance of the riders.
He added that the efforts made by the stables and jockeys contribute to the development of showjumping and push them towards excellence and more achievements in the sport.
The Interior Ministry showjumping team were the major winners achieving first place overall and also winning the 6Bar Show Jumping Championship.
Team supervisor Major General Abdulaziz Mayouf Al Rumaihi expressed his thanks and appreciation to Shaikh Nasser for his unlimited support for all sports activities in general and for equestrian sports and showjumping in particular.
Maj-Gen Al Rumaihi also thanked Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, while noting the diligent follow-up by Public Security chief Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan to all sports teams during their participation in local, regional and international competitions.
