TENNIS – Bahraini tennis referees Mohammed Musa and Hussain Al Saffar have been selected to officiate in two international tournaments this week in Prague, the Czech Republic.
Musa and Al Saffar will be refereeing in competitions under the banner of the Prague Open 2024, which features a tournament each in both the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Challenger Tour and the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women’s World Tennis Tour.
Their participation comes within the framework of the Bahrain Tennis Federation’s (BTF) ongoing efforts to enhance the level of refereeing in tennis and support local officials in reaching the highest levels internationally.
Musa and Al Saffar were chosen through the referee exchange programme established at this year’s Bahrain Ministry of Interior Tennis Challenger, part of the ATP Challenger Tour held in February. The Bahraini pair had also officiated in that tournament, as well as in last year’s Group V matches of the Asia/Oceania Group in the Davis Cup.
BTF president Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa expressed his pride in the participation of Musa and Al Saffar in the Prague ATP and ITF competitions. Shaikh Abdulaziz said that it reflects the great development in the level of tennis refereeing in the kingdom.
