Isa Al Enezi of Victorious team yesterday won the opening international race of the new endurance season.
The 120km race started at the new Ras Al Bar village and concluded at the Bahrain International Endurance Village.
Al Enezi clocked 4 hours, 55 minutes and 40 seconds.
Mohammed Al Hashemi, also of Victorious, came second in 4 hours, 55 minutes and 45 seconds, while Al Zaeem’s Shahad Waleed was in third place (5 hours, 7 minutes and 11 seconds).
Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef) president Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa presented the winners with their trophies.
Present was Supreme Council for the Environment vice-president and member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
In the 100km international race, Mohamed Khaled from A1 stables topped the podium winning the race in 5 hours, 10 minutes and 50 seconds, followed by Ramzi Mohammed from N13 stables (5 hours, 32 minutes and 36 seconds) and Nasser Khalifa from N13 stables (5 hours 33 minutes 35 seconds).
The winners of the Best Horse Condition competition were honoured under the patronage of Al Fursan captain Shaikha Noora bint Hamad Al Khalifa.
Victorious scored 288 points to win first place in the competition in the 120km race for their horse AFI Big. (Trainer: Jaffar Mirza, Jockey: Mohammed Al Hashemi, Stableman: Ram)
Victorious also won the contest in the 100km race for Bennett Dominica, scoring 289 points. (Trainer: Jaffar Mirza, Jockey: Jassim Khalifa, Stableman: Gasol)
His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Breef honorary president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the Victorious team’s performance in the 120km race.
It confirms that the team is fully prepared to continue winning championships despite the strong competition in the season, he said.
The excitement of the season’s opening race has set the stage for a thrilling new season, he added.
He praised the outstanding efforts made by Breef, headed by Shaikh Isa, in creating the ideal atmosphere for stables and jockeys.
Shaikh Nasser was present to guide the jockeys throughout the stages, which motivated them to finish the races successfully.
