Jaber Abdulaal and Esa Al Qattan entered the under-14 boys doubles semi-finals of the 21st BBK Juniors Open Championship at Bahrain Tennis Club in Juffair last night.
The duo had managed a comfortable 6-1, 6-0 quarter-final win over Vineesh M. and Kishan P.
Jaber and Esa earlier qualified for the quarter-finals after receiving a second-round bye. They will face Miyawaki Kazuma and Anshuman S. in Monday’s semi-final.
Miyawaki and Anshuman overcame Jerome Shibu and Erwin Godinho 6-3, 7-5 in their quarter-final clash.
Meanwhile, Ken Belt and Sai Raghav also reached the semi-finals after blanking Pajouyan Niousha and Maro Ugarkovic 6-0, 6-0. They have set up a semi-final clash with Sparsh Parmar and Mohammed Al Kan, who defeated Riku Takano and Hiroki Wakmatsu 6-0, 6-1 to complete the semi-final line-up. The semi-finals will take place on Monday at 6pm.
Rushikesh Sonawane reached the quarter finals of the unisex under-8 category after defeating Clark Sayago 4-0.
Rushikesh will face Ahmed Bader, who managed a 4-1 win over Ahmed Riyaan, in today’s quarter-final.
Joshua Jacob also entered the last eight stage after knocking out Yasmine Hajjar 4-1, and will now face Al Tair Marat who defeated Mehek Jeelani 4-0.
Vyom Guota and Jenan Majeed both managed 4-0 wins over Mohith Pagadala and Aryan Bhandary and will meet in the quarter-finals while Hamad Khalid Suleti, who defeated Mariam Ahmed 4-0, will play Vandan P Nagar.
In the unisex under 10 section, Essa Al Qatan claimed a 7-0 win against Aryan Pande to and will face Zamrano Simon who saw off Kishan Pagadala 7-3.
Yousef Al Shehabi defeated Yohan Daniel 7-5 while Rohan Mukerjee blanked Al Hanoof Al Suleti 7-0. The winners will face each other in the quarter-finals.
Qays Nasser was the fifth participant to make it to the quarter-finals after defeating Shadi Kallel 7-0 and will face Mohammed Al Huda, who knocked out Wakamatsu Hiroki.
The last quarterfinal will see Faris Al Tobli face Tristan Manners. Faris claimed a 7-3 win against Eira Corral while Tristan saw off Rout Sidhhary 7-0 last night.
The under-8 and under-10 quarter finals will take place today starting at 4pm at Bahrain Tennis Club.
